I, too, am Japan/Waseda/SILS
This is a video project that aims at raising critical social awareness around issues of culture and identity by highlighting the multiculturalism present in Japan, Waseda University, and Waseda University's School of International Liberal Studies (SILS). It was inspired by the #itooamharvard photo campaign that trended on the internet in 2014. The requirements for contributions in my project are simple; you should create a video that:
-
is under 5 minutes
-
expresses the complexity of your identity and your place in the community (Japan, Waseda, or SILS) (e.g. ways you feel invisible, overlooked, misunderstood, stereotyped; ways you see yourself as belonging or you have been made to feel accepted by others; etc.)
-
brings awareness to your presence and contributions in the community (Japan, Waseda, or SILS)
-
ends with you making the statement “I, too, am Japan/Waseda/SILS”

I, too, am Japan
This area of focus is intended to help bring attention to the multiculturalism and diversity that exists in Japan and the present and past members of the Japanese community who reside around the world

I, too, am Waseda
This area of focus is intended to help bring attention to the multiculturalism and diversity that exists on the Waseda University campus and the Waseda community that extends to both present and past members residing beyond these borders and around the world

I, too, am SILS
This area of focus is intended to help bring attention to the multiculturalism and diversity that exists in the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS) and its community that extends to both present and past members residing around the world
